What is insured?
We are insured for defense costs and payment of claims against the university, faculty, staff member, manager, officer, director, or Regent for any alleged error, misstatement, misleading statement, act, omission, neglect or breach of duty arising while acting in good faith during the performance of their assigned duties. Insurance also extends to those acting in good faith serving on boards approved in advance by the university.
What do I do if I receive notice of a claim?
A faculty or staff member who receives a claim or Notice of Complaint about alleged wrongdoing must notify the Office of the General Counsel immediately.
Is there a deductible?
No deductible is charged for coverage.
Other Information
Indemnification
A request for indemnification must be submitted by the faculty or staff member to the Office of the General Counsel for review. Authority for granting rests with the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs or Chief Financial Officer, in consultation with the President or other executive officers, as appropriate. Authority for the selection of appropriate legal counsel rests with the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
